Medical Outeach- La Victoria

It’s the month of March and the seasons are changing in the western highlands. Rain and clouds that were the normal just weeks ago, have given way to dry and clear days. The seasons in Guatemala can change unexpectedly, forecast rain may not fall, or sunny skies instead are hidden by layers of clouds.

People all over the world need Jesus. It just takes someone willing to reach out.

One thing remains the same, people all over the world need Jesus. Someone must care enough to express the love of Jesus by going to where the people are. A small but dedicated group of volunteers from the U.S. arrived to join with Living Water Teaching staff, Guatemalan medical volunteers, and missionaries for exactly this mission. To reach the people of Aldea-La Victoria with healing for their bodies and the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the salvation of their souls.

Day two, people still arriving.

Robin and I, Chuck, enjoy this type of outreach, especially because of the nature of our usual assignments. During these medical campaigns we have the privilege of serving in the “vitals” area, because there is nothing like being hands-on, face-to-face with the people. Here we are literally among the first to act as the welcoming hands of Jesus, as the people arrive.

For many of these, medical, dental, and vision care is out of reach. For each person that finds their way to us, these things are made available at no cost. After the physical body is attended, the ultimate free gift is made available. Each will be prayed over and hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their native language.

Once the dust settled, 842 people were treated for various medical, dental, and vision conditions. 86, heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time and believed!

The team also minister to 1,080 youth, children, adults and seniors. Drama and visitation took the team to schools, facilities for abused women/children, a nursing home, and the regional hospital. There, an additional 500 Salvation’s were recorded!
